CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT
— At around 1:34 a.m. Sunday, the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on E. Main St. in Fredonia. The operator was identified as Jorge E. Rosario Alvarez, 45, of Fredonia. An investigation found Rosario Alvarez to be driving while intoxicated. He was charged with DWI, DWI per se, and speed in zone. He will answer for his charges in the village court.
— At around 1:20 a.m. Saturday, the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on East Main Street in the village of Fredonia. The operator was identified as Roland M. Davis, 29, of Buffalo. Further investigation found Davis to be intoxicated. He was charged with driving while intoxicated, unlicensed operator, and speed in zone. He will answer for his charges in the village court.
JAMESTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT
— Michael R. Shafer, 23, of Jamestown, criminal obstruction of breathing, second-degree unlawful imprisonment and fourth-degree criminal mischief.
At approximately 3:47 p.m. Friday, officers responded to a domestic incident report at an address on the south side of town. Upon arrival and after conducting an investigation, it was determined that Shafer had prevented the victim from leaving the residence by physically restraining them.
During this confrontation, Shafer broke the victim’s glasses and applied pressure to their neck. Shafer was taken into custody without further incident and transported to the Jamestown City Jail. He was being held in the Jamestown City Jail pending arraignment.
— Jamie P Sheldon, 34, of Jamestown, was charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
At 7 p.m. Friday, officers responded to a southside address for a report of a fight in progress. Through investigation, it was found that Sheldon was actively engaging in a physical altercation with another person during the presence of two minor children. Sheldon was transported to Jamestown City Jail without incident where he was held pending arraignment.
— Christopher W. Smith, 42, of Jamestown, was charged with petit larceny. At 12:05 p.m. Friday, officers were dispatched to a report of shoplifting at Walgreens, located at 10 Prospect St. Surveillance footage showed a suspect leaving the store with merchandise without paying. Officers located the suspect, identified as Smith, a short distance away at the corner of East Sixth Street and North Main Street. He was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Jamestown City Jail, where he was held pending arraignment.
— Ralph R. Patterson III, 45, of Jamestown, was charged with first-degree criminal contempt.
At approximately 3:30 p.m. Friday, officers conducted a street check on a male subject on the west side. During the process of taking this individual into custody, officers observed Patterson inside a residence with a person with whom he had an active stay-away order of protection with.
Patterson was taken into custody without further incident and transported to the Jamestown City Jail and held pending his arraignment.
— Jarred T. Ristau of Jamestown was charged with two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
At around 4:52 p.m. Friday, officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of King and English streets for observed traffic infractions. Officers made contact with the operator of the vehicle who was identified as Ristau. Through an investigation it was found that Ristau had an outstanding warrant out of the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office. He was taken into custody without incident on the outstanding warrant. A search of Ristau revealed he possessed a quantity of methamphetamine.
Officers conducted a search of the vehicle and also located additional quantities
of methamphetamine and fentanyl inside of the vehicle. He was booked in the city jail and was released to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office to answer to his outstanding warrant.
