Area Police Reports
JAMESTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT
– Brian A. Lowers, 38, of Jamestown, was charged Oct. 19 with resisting arrest, and a fourth-degree criminal mischief arrest warrant. According to police, at about 5:57 p.m., officers observed Lowers in the area of Forest Avenue and Warner Place. Officers knew Lowers had an active Jamestown City Court arrest warrant. Officers made contact with Lowers, and as they began to place Lowers into custody, he allegedly failed to comply. After a brief struggle, Lowers was placed into custody, and taken to Jamestown City Jail. He will be in city court later.
– Kedrin D. Murphy, 37, of Jamestown, was charged Oct. 19 with two counts of fourth-degree criminal mischief, and endangering the welfare of a child. According to police, officers responded to a domestic dispute at a westside residence. Upon arrival, it was found that Murphy had initiated an argument with the victim. During the argument, police said, Murphy allegedly took the victim’s phone from her hand when she was attempting to call 911, while holding a baby, causing a head injury to the baby. Upon further investigation, Murphy allegedly damaged the phone by throwing it. Murphy was placed into custody, and taken to city jail. He will be in city court later.
CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT
– Johnathan Scinta, 37, of Cherry Creek, was charged Oct. 18 with petit larceny, and third-degree criminal tampering. According to officials, at about 1:30 p.m., deputies responded to a larceny complaint in the town of Cherry Creek. Upon further investigation, it was found that Scinta allegedly took tires from a victim’s vehicle without permission. Scinta will be in Cherry Creek Town Court later.
– RIPLEY – A malfunctioning gas boiler valve was blamed in a morning fire. Around 7:13 a.m. Monday, the Ripley Fire Department and multiple mutual aid departments responded to a residential structure fire on NE Sherman Road in the town. After extinguishing the fire, the Chautauqua County Fire Investigation Team was requested to the scene to conduct an origin and cause probe. Investigators were able to determine the fire originated in the basement of the structure and was caused by a gas boiler valve.
ELLICOTT POLICE DEPARTMENT
– Sarah E. Johnson, 47, of Jamestown, was charged Oct. 9 with petit larceny and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. According to police, officers responded to a shoplifting complaint at Wegmans, where it is alleged Johnson removed store-owned items, without paying. While being placed into custody, it was found that Johnson also was in alleged possession of a quantity of methamphetamine. She will be in Ellicott Town Court later.
– Jacob A. Freshwater, 18 , of Falconer, was charged Oct. 19 with petit larceny. According to police, officers responded to a shoplifting complaint at a Falconer business. Upon further investigation, it was found that Freshwater allegedly exited the store without paying for items. He will be in town court later.
WESTFIELD POLICE DEPARTMENT
– Donald Baker, 66, of Westfield,was charged Oct. 17 with trespass. According to police, Baker was located in the area of Hawley Street, an area where he is not permitted to be. Baker was seen in the area and reported that he was allegedly stealing metal from a business. Upon further investigation, officers could not find that any metal was stolen. Baker will be in Westfield Town Court later.
