Woman charged in Dunkirk stabbing

A stabbing incident on Wednesday afternoon has led to charges against a city woman.

Dunkirk police report that at about 2:30 p.m. they received a report of an incident on the 500 block of Leopard Street. Upon arrival, patrol located the male victim who alleged that, Layla Garcia, 23, of 522 Leopard St., stabbed him in the arm with a pair of scissors and hit him with a crowbar.

The victim also alleged Garcia smashed his windshield with a kid scooter and a crowbar. Garcia was located and charged with third-degree assault and third-degree criminal mischief. She was held for arraignment and later released without bail.

Man faces felony charge over fake $100s

The alleged use of counterfeit $100 bills in Dunkirk got a New York City man into some very real trouble Wednesday.

Rafiq Shaheed, 31, was arrested Wednesday and charged with first-degree possession of a forged instrument, which is a felony. He was also charged with petit larceny.

Back on May 18, Shaheed allegedly loaded $200 on a CashApp card using two counterfeit $100 bills at a Central Avenue store.

Shaheed was taken into custody and held for arraignment.

CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT

— At 11:23 a.m. Wednesday, deputies responded to a criminal mischief complaint that occurred in the town of Pomfret. Through an investigation it was found that 39-year-old Jacob H. Tye of Fredonia, did enter a building with the intent to commit a crime, steal a Utility Task Vehicle, and possess the Utility Task Vehicle on his property.

During arrest, Tye physically did not comply with troopers and the deputy. He was charged with third-degree criminal mischief, third-degree grand larceny, third-degree burglary, third-degree criminal possession of stolen property and resisting arrest. He was transferred to the Chautauqua County Jail for CAP.
