Jamestown woman charged in city arson

A Jamestown woman has been charged with second-degree arson after a fire investigation at a southside residence in the city.

Jamestown police report at 7:35 p.m. Saturday, they responded to a structure fire. During the on-scene investigation, officers found that the fire was intentionally set. Officers then made contact with Amber J. Hitchcock, 31.

During the investigation it was found that Hitchcock set the residence on fire while other tenants were in the building. She was then transported to City Jail, where she is held pending arraignment.

The Jamestown Police Department was assisted by the Jamestown Fire Department in the investigation. All parties were evacuated from the complex due to the fire, and no injuries were sustained due to the incident.

CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT

— CHAUTAUQUA — A Dewittville man has been charged with criminal mischief after an incident in the spring at an area business.

On April 22, deputies responded to an alarm at the location. Once there, deputies encountered Anthony Dudley, 35. Through an investigation it was determined that Dudley did damage items while in the business. He was charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief and was arraigned on his charges in the Chautauqua County Jail.

— ELLERY — At around 1:16 a.m. Sunday, the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on Interstate 86. The operator of the vehicle was identified as William H. Spaulding, 64 of Lemoyne, Pa.. Further investigation found Spaulding to be driving while intoxicated. He was charged with DWI, DWI per se, and moving from lane unsafely. Spaulding will answer for his charges in the town court later.

— RIPLEY — At around 1:37 a.m. Saturday, the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office responded to a single motor vehicle accident on Park Avenue. The operator was identified as Joseph A. Johnson, 41, of Westfield. Further investigation found Johnson to be DWI. He was charged with DWI, aggravated DWI, consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle, and moved from lane unsafely. He will answer charges in town court later.

— BEMUS POINT — At around 10 p.m. Friday, the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on Bemus Point Ellery Road. The operator was identified as Paul E. Pierski, 64 of Stockton. Further investigation found Pierski to be driving while intoxicated. He was charged with DWI, and speed in zone. He will answer charges in town court later.

— FRENCH CREEK — At around 5:14 p.m. Friday, the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office responded to a single motor vehicle accident on Bush Road. The operator and only occupant was identified as Lawrence R. Dunnewold, 60, of Clymer. Further investigation found Dunnewold to be driving while intoxicated. Dunnewold was charged with DWI, DWI per se, and moving from lane unsafely. He will answer for his charges in Town Court.

— Around 1:27 a.m. Saturday, deputies conducted a traffic stop on Falconer Street in the city of Jamestown. The operator was identified as Blake Perry, 21, of Jamestown and through investigation it was determined that Perry was driving while intoxicated. He will answer charges later in city court.
