ASHVILLE – The cause of a fire over the weekend has been revealed. The Chautauqua County Fire Investigation Team was called to conduct a cause and origin investigation for a fire which occurred Saturday morning within a residence on Matson Road in the town of Harmony. After a hands-on investigation at the scene and interviews with the homeowners, it was determined that there was a propane leak in the basement. Prior to the fire, an electric dryer was in use which caused the propane gas to ignite leading to the fire. The fire was accidental in nature.
JAMESTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT
– Christopher S. Fulkman, 49, of Tidioute, Pa., was charged with DWI at 11:49 p.m. May 1 after officers allegedly saw a vehicle parked near Harrison and Institute streets with a man slumped over in the driver’s seat. Fulkman was charged with DWI and taken to the city jail until he could be arraigned.
– Wilfredo Castrillo, 48, of Jamestown was charged with two counts of aggravated criminal contempt, resisting arrest and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance at 3:25 a.m. Friday after officers responded to an address on the east side of Jamestown for a reported violation of an order of protection. Castrillo allegedly violated a valid stay-away order of protection with a woman by allegedly leaving her multiple voice messages and threatening her. Around 6:24 a.m., officers were called back to the same address after it was reported that Castrillo was allegedly at the residence, continuing to make threats to the woman. Officers then located Wilfredo a short distance from the residence and while attempting to stop him, he allegedly ran away. After a brief foot pursuit, Castrillo was caught, charged and taken to the city jail until he could be arraigned.
– Robert BD Brinkley, 26, of Jamestown was charged with first-degree criminal contempt, third-degree criminal mischief and third-degree assault at 7 a.m. Sunday after officers responded to a reported fight on the east side of Jamestown. When officers arrived they learned that one of the men involved in the fight had an active order of protection against the other man. Brinkley allegedly threw rock through a person’s window and hit a woman in the head, causing injury. Brinkley was charged and taken to the city jail until he could be arraigned.
