COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE

– SHERIDAN – Gary A. Lang, 56, of Deer Street, Dunkirk was charged Tuesday with petit larceny.

Deputies said they received a complaint of a prowler at a residence on Rt. 20 in the town of Sheridan around 1:30 a.m. Further investigation into this complaint by the Sheriff’s Criminal Investigations Division led to Lang being identified via security footage from this residence looking in the windows.

Another complaint came in to the Sheriff’s office in regards to someone entering vehicles at a residence on West Sheridan Road in the town of Sheridan also on July 30.

Investigators reviewed video footage from that location also and said they could identify Lang as the subject.

Lang was located at a residence on Deer Street and taken into custody. He was sent to the Chautauqua County Jail, arraigned and held without bail.

– Alex Johnson, 23, of Jamestown, was sentenced Tuesday by Chautauqua County Judge David Foley to a determinate state prison sentence of 5 years with 2 years of post-release supervision after being convicted of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class B felony.

In November 2022, the Jamestown Metro Drug Task Force executed a search warrant on Johnson’s residence and located a quantity of fentanyl.

Johnson was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. He pleaded guilty to the reduced charge in April 2024.

District Attorney Jason Schmidt would like to thank the Jamestown Police Department for their work on this case.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Erik Bentley.
