Six hurt in
Arkwright ATV
accident
ARKWRIGHT — An ATV accident injured six individuals and led to one victim being taken by helicopter to Buffalo.
The Forestville Fire Department noted on its Facebook page the incident occurred around 9:25 p.m. Friday on Weaver Road. Upon arrival, crews determined three of them confirmed had been ejected from the back of the ATV. All were transported to Buffalo hospitals, with five by area ambulance. “We would like to thank all mutual aid departments and law enforcement agencies on scene,” the department said. “Great job by all involved. Several other departments were on standby to cover calls for all the departments on scene.
Forestville noted Stockton Fire, East Dunkirk Fire Department, Silver Creek Volunteer Emergency Squad, and Seneca Nation as well as the State Police were on scene. A landing zone was set up at Forestville Elementary School.
JAMESTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT
— A Jamestown woman is facing second-degree assault and driving while intoxicated charges after striking a pair of individuals in a parking lot early Saturday.
Brittany A. Smith, 31, was charged after Jamestown Police officers responded to the area of The Wine Cellar for a fight around 1:30 a.m.
Upon arrival, officers learned Smith struck two individuals in a parking lot with her vehicle. Smith’s vehicle then struck two parked vehicles.
One victim refused treatment and the second was transported to the hospital with injuries. Smith was found to be under the influence of alcohol during this incident. She was placed into custody and transported to the Jamestown City Jail and held pending arraignment.
— Mario M. Castro Jr., 30, of Jamestown, was charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief and second-degree harassment after an incident Saturday.
At about 7 a.m., officers were dispatched to respond to a third-party report of a domestic dispute at a residence on the south side of the city. Upon the officers’ arrival, they discovered that Castro threatened physical harm to a victim and damaged property within the residence.
— Shane M. Hefley, 23, of Jamestown, was charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief, fourth-degree possession of a weapon and second-degree attempted assault on Thursday.
At 5:27 p.m., officers responded to an address on the south side of the city for a domestic dispute. Prior to arriving on scene, officers were informed that Hefley had attempted to stab a victim inside the residence. When officers arrived on scene, dispatch advised that the victim was barricaded inside a bedroom, and Hefley was actively attempting to gain entry. As officers prepared to make entry into the residence, he opened the front door and was taken into custody without incident.
— Abigail L. Osborne-Thompson, 22, of Jamestown was charged with three counts of second-degree criminal contempt. At approximately 7:59 p.m. Friday, officers responded to a park on the Westside of the City for a reported physical domestic incident. Officers checked the area and located the subjects a short distance away. Further investigation found that Osborne-Thompson was in the presence of three people who had a full stay away order of protection against her. She was taken into custody without further incident.

COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT
ELLERY — Before 1 a.m. Saturday, deputies conducted a traffic stop on Meadow Drive. The operator of the vehicle was identified as Wayne A. Weaver, 53, of Bemus Point. Further investigation found Weaver to be operating the motor vehicle while intoxicated. Weaver was charged with Driving While Intoxicated and Unsafe Tire, and later released with tickets to appear in the Town of Ellery Court for a later date and time.
