JAMESTOWN POLICE

– An 18-year-old Jamestown youth was charged with gang assault early Wednesday morning. Around 2:45 a.m. Wednesday, Jamestown police officers were alerted to an in-progress assault behind the former Oriental Star restaurant in Brooklyn Square, on the Riverwalk. According to a police report, officers arrived and saw three people running west across South Main street. Officers caught two youths and 18-year-old Julio Arizmendi. Police allege Arizmendi, the two youths and an unidentified Black male attacked a person with a stick, knife, imitation pistol and a glass bottle that was smashed over the victim’s head. The victim suffered what police term serious injuries and was treated at UPMC Chautauqua.

Arizmendi was charged with first-degree gang assault, second-degree assault, two counts of fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon and resisting arrest. He was taken to the city jail until he could be arraigned.

– Rosa L. Lopez, 44, of Jamestown was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, felony tampering with physical evidence and arrest warrants after a traffic stop at 6:08 p.m. Wednesday on Newland Avenue near Hazzard Street. According to a police report, police pulled a vehicle over and, during the stop, learned a passenger in the vehicle had confirmed arrest warrants from Jamestown City Court. After taking Lopez to the city jail, officers report finding Lopez in possession of a small amount of cocaine that she allegedly tried to swallow when officers found it. She was kept in the city jail until she could be arraigned.

– Yosdanis E. Arias Diaz, 41, of Rochester was charged with petit larceny at 6:33 p.m. Wednesday after police responded to a north side business for a larceny complaint. Arias Diaz allegedly stole a cell phone belonging to an employee of the business before being found a short time later by Jamestown and Ellicott police officers. Diaz was taken to the city jail until an arraignment hearing could be held.

CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE

Travis A Perry, 35, of Cassadaga was charged Wednesday afternoon with two counts of driving while intoxicated and unsafe lane change following an accident on Fredonia-Stockton Road, in the town of Pomfret. Deputies said around 3:15 p.m. they received a report of a vehicle property damage accident and located Perry’s vehicle on its side in a ditch. He allegedly had a blood alcohol content of twice the legal limit. Perry will answer to the charges out of the Town of Pomfret Court.
