JAMESTOWN FIRE DEPARTMENT

— A house fire at 71 Allen St. that injured a city firefighter is being blamed on carelessly discarded matches.

Jamestown Fire Department responded to smoke and the smell of smoke in the basement apartment around 10:30 a.m. Sunday and found light smoke pushing from the eaves. A primary search of the entire house ensured all occupants were evacuated.

During overhaul, crews found more fire in the ceiling of apartment 4. All occupants of the home at the time of the fire were able to evacuate including two dogs and two cats with no injuries. Jamestown BPU secured the power at the meter and National Fuel secured the gas to the house.

City police, the Department of Development and Mayor Kim Ecklund assisted at the scene. The Red Cross assisted the seven adults who lived in the house with support that helped their needs to be met for the holiday weekend.

— A Saturday house fire is under investigation in the city of Jamestown.

Jamestown Fire Department responded to 11 Deering St. around 11:45 a.m. and found fire in the rear of the house extending to the roof from the first floor. The occupant of the house was standing on the sidewalk with his three dogs and stated everyone is out of the house and only his cat was unaccounted for.

Firefighters went to the rear of the house and knocked down most of the exterior fire as well as the kitchen area of the residence. Once the fire was out, a member of the department found the cat healthy and alive and returned it to the owner.

Jamestown Fire was assisted on the scene by Alstar, city police, Department of Development, Mayor Kim Ecklund and the Red Cross.

JAMESTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT

— Brantley D. Churchill, 33, was charged with second-degree aggravated harassment and resisting arrest.

At 9 p.m. Sunday, officers responded to a southside address. Through an investigation, it was found that Churchill had been calling the victim, his current girlfriend, and threatening to kick her door in as well as cause her physical injury. While Officers were on scene, Churchill returned to the address. Officers attempted to place him into custody to which he failed to comply with officers and led them on a brief foot pursuit.

Churchill was taken into custody without incident shortly thereafter.

— Brandon T Jimerson, 39, of Jamestown, was charged with first-degree criminal contempt, fourth-degree criminal mischief, resisting arrest and second-degree harassment.

Just before 1 p.m. Sunday, officers of the first platoon responded to an eastside residence for an unwanted male complaint. Upon arrival officers were advised thatJimerson violated a court order of protection by threatening to kill the victim and by smashing out the victim’s window to his residence.

Prior to officer’s arriving, Jimerson fled the scene but was located shortly after. As officers attempted to take Jimerson into custody, he began to flee from officers and struck an officer in the face with a closed fist. Jimerson was subsequently tased and placed into custody at this time. The officer involved sustained bruising to the face from being struck but did not require medical attention. Jimerson was transported to the Jamestown

City Jail where he was being held pending arraignment.

— Kari R. Detweiler, 19, was charged with third-degree criminal mischief on Saturday.

At about 3 p.m., officers responded to a southside address for a past tense domestic dispute. Through an investigation it was found that Detweiler damaged property belonging to the victim during a domestic incident at about midnight. The value of the property damaged was approximately $450. Due to state Domestic Violence Mandatory Arrest Laws, she was placed into custody without incident and transported to Jamestown City Jail.

— Richard C Neal, 39, of Jamestown, was charged with third-degree criminal trespass.

At approximately 6:54 p.m. Friday, officers responded to the East part of the City for a trespass in progress.

Through an investigation officers located Neal in a condemned residence where he had no right to be there. He was placed into custody.

CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT

— SILVER CREEK — At about 7:42 a.m. Sunday, deputies responded to Lake Avenue for a report of an altercation. Upon investigation, it is alleged that Patrick Kelly, 25, of the village, did make unwanted contact with another individual. Kelly was charged with second-degree harassment.

— HANOVER — Around 9:50 p.m. Saturday, the Sheriff’s Office conducted a vehicle and traffic stop on Route 5. Through an investigation, the operator of the vehicle, Erin M. Peters, 45, of Depew, was found to be driving while intoxicated. Peters was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, driving while intoxicated per se, and moved from lane unsafely.

— CHAUTAUQUA — Before 11 p.m. Saturday, deputies responded to Hannum Road for a disorderly person. Upon arrival it was determined that Austin E. Solo Sakss, 31, of Jamestown had threatened the use of physical violence toward another person. Sakss was charged with second-degree aggravated harassment.
