COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE

— VILLENOVA — Ricky E. Vento, 50, of Forestville, and James W. Lewellyn, 43, of Angola, were each charged with making a punishable false written statement. The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office on Feb. 11 was investigating an incident on Dye Road in the town of Villenova where written statements were taken from Lewellyn and Vento. An investigation found that Lewellyn and Vento both allegedly provided false statements in regard to the investigation. Both are scheduled to appear in Villenova Town Court later.

JAMESTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT

— James A. Carter, 27, of Jamestown, was charged with first-degree criminal contempt, first-degree burglary, aggravated criminal contempt, third-degree assault, endangering the welfare of a child, second-degree criminal contempt and fourth-degree criminal mischief. Officers conducted a check Tuesday at a south side residence for a person wanted on several felony warrants. Carter was observed attempting to exit the residence but ran back inside where there was an order of protection to stay away from a woman. Carter was eventually taken into custody and transported to Jamestown City Jail. He was held for arraignment on the charges.

— Richard A. Eck Jr., no age provided, of Warren, was charged with two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Police stopped a vehicle at 10:52 p.m. Tuesday in the area of Barrett and Prather avenues for observed traffic infractions. After receiving consent to search the vehicle, officers located a quantity of methamphetamine and two Buprenorphine and Naloxone sublingual films. Eck was transported to jail and processed. He is scheduled to appear in Jamestown City Court later.

— Gary S. Dean Jr., 47, no address listed, was charged with two counts of felony first-degree criminal contempt. Officers responded at 11:49 p.m. Tuesday to the north side of the city for an unwanted male at a residence. A male was observed hiding behind a neighboring home and was later identified as Dean. It was learned that Dean allegedly violated an order of protection to stay away from a woman and her child who live at the residence. Dean was transported to Jamestown City Jail and held for arraignment in court.
