JAMESTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT

— Angel M. Melendez, 33, of Jamestown, was charged with resisting arrest and no/inadequate lights — bicycle. Officers observed Melendez riding a bicycle in the road without proper lights. It was learned that Melendez had an active bench warrant out of the city of Jamestown. Melendez attempted to run from officers while being taken into custody. Melendez was eventually transported to Jamestown City Jail.

— Teage A. Brooks, 19, of Jamestown, was charged with second-degree aggravated harassment. An investigation found that Brooks called another person multiple times after being advised to stop. Brooks was taken into custody with assistance from the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office. He was held for arraignment in Jamestown City Court.

— Ronald L. Mesler III, 21, of Jamestown, was charged with second-degree strangulation. Police responded at 5:38 p.m. Thursday to Newland Avenue for a reported domestic dispute. An investigation found that Mesler allegedly choked another person to the point that the victim almost lost consciousness. Mesler was transported to jail and held for arraignment.

CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT

— A 48-year-old woman is facing charges after a several month-long probe ended with a search warrant execution at 304 Hebner St. in Jamestown around 8:30 p.m. Thursday.

Upon entering, narcotics investigators from the Jamestown Police Department, Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, and city of Dunkirk Police Department located Tanya L. Colburn.

As a result of the search, officers seized a quantity of fentanyl, methamphetamine, Suboxone, prescription pills, scales and packaging material for the distribution of narcotics and U.S. currency. Colburn was charged with five counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia and tampering with physical evidence.

Colburn was issued tickets for the city of Jamestown court.
