CATTARAUGUS COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE

¯ Jenell L. Long, 47, of Mayville, was arraigned on an active arrest warrant out of Salamanca City Court after contacting the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office on an unrelated incident. Long was transported to Salamanca and released under supervision. Long is scheduled to appear back in court at a later date.

JAMESTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT

¯ Jaden M. Rogers, 19, of Jamestown, was charged with tampering with physical evidence. Officers responded Monday to Crown Street for a report of a person with a handgun walking in the street. An investigation found that the gun had been hidden in a nearby residence. Rogers had an outstanding warrant from a past incident and was taken into custody. An investigation remains ongoing.

NEW YORK STATE POLICE

¯ DUNKIRK — Jose J. Ruiz Jr., 39, of Dunkirk, was charged with fourth-degree grand larceny. Troopers were notified of a stolen wallet complaint at Aldi in Dunkirk. A woman stated that she had mistakenly left her wallet near the register after paying for her groceries. When she realized her wallet was missing, she went back in the store and could not find it. With the assistance of Aldi’s management, troopers reviewed surveillance footage that showed an unknown male, later identified as Ruiz, taking the wallet with him as he left the store. Ruiz was later taken into custody without incident. He is scheduled to appear in Dunkirk Town Court later.

CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE

¯ Matthew W. Buck, 32, of Jamestown, was charged with first-degree reckless endangerment, third-degree criminal possession of stolen property, fourth-degree criminal mischief, driving while ability impaired by drugs and third-degree unlawful fleeing a police officer. Deputies attempted to stop a vehicle at 8 p.m. Monday that was reported stolen out of Jamestown. Buck, who was driving the vehicle, failed to comply and led deputies on a vehicle pursuit on Route 394 in the village of Lakewood and town of North Harmony. The vehicle was eventually abandoned at a Bemus Point residence. With the assistance of K-9 Drake, deputies were able to take Buck into custody without further incident. He was transported to jail for arraignment on the charges. Deputies were assisted by the New York State Police and Jamestown Police Department K-9 Unit. No members of the public were injured as a result of the pursuit.
