JAMESTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT

¯ Jennifer L. Conti 34, of Jamestown, has been charged with four counts of second-degree assault, tampering with physical evidence and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance after being brought into the city jail on an outstanding bench warrant. At around 1:55 p.m. Monday, while completing a search, officers discovered that Conti had suspected drugs hidden and in her possession. Conti fought with the officers and attempted to ingest the drugs to avoid further charges. During the altercation, the baggie of suspected drugs split open, exposing officers to a white powdery substance after it became airborne. The four officers were transported to UPMC for treatment after the baggie of suspected drugs resulted in a positive test for fentanyl. Conti was being held at the Jamestown City Jail pending arraignment.

¯ Joseph B. Connolly, 19, of Jamestown, was charged with criminal obstruction of breathing, second-degree menacing, endangering the welfare of a child and fourth-degree criminal mischief. Around 1:10 p.m. Monday, officers responded to an apartment complex on the east side for a 911 emergency. The victim reported that she had been choked and threatened with a BB gun by her boyfriend Connolly. Officers arrived and located Connolly outside the residence where he was subsequently detained. During the investigation, the victim advised officers that Connolly threatened to shoot her in the eyes, choke her, and attempted to prevent her from calling the police. Connolly did allegedly did all of this while the victim was holding a 3-month-old child. He was transported to the city jail where he was awaiting arraignment.

¯ Tyler P. Brown, 31, of Jamestown was charged with trepassing and fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property at 11:35 a.m. Tuesday on the city’s north side after officers responded to a trespassing complaint and allegedly found Brown and another man in a detached garage. Brown had two bench warrants issued by Jamestown City Court and an arrest warrant out of the Lakewood-Busti Police Department. Brown also allegedly had a driver’s license in his property that had been reported stolen from a vehicle in August 2022. Brown will be in court later.

ELLICOTT POLICE DEPARTMENT

¯ Dakota M. Proestler, 24, and Jody J. Baran, 42, both of Jamestown, face charges after Ellicott police allegedly found them carrying property from a buiness in Ellicott at 12:53 a.m. Tuesday. Police report seeing a white GMC Envoy behind an Ellicott business while a man was allegedly seen carrying items from the business to the vehicle. The men attempted to drive away when they saw officers, who then followed the vehicle along with Jamestown police officers and Chautauqua County Sheriff’s deputies into Jamestown. After a brief foot chase, Proestler and Baran were charged with fourth-degree grand larceny while Baran was also cited for several vehicle and traffic offenses while fleeing from police. Police report they allegedly stole $2,230 of material from the business. Baran and Proestler will be in Ellicott Town Court later.

¯ Alexis R. Wynn, 20, will be in Ellicott Town Court later after allegedly being pulled over for driving while intoxicated at 3:50 a.m. Saturday on Fluvanna Avenue. Wynn will be in Ellicott Town Court later.

¯ William R. Gardner, 23, was charged with petit larceny after allegedly taking property from someone’s driveway without permittion. Gardner will be in Ellicott Town Court later.

¯ Brea A. Carlson, 32, was charged with endangering the welfare of a child on Monday after officers were called to a Celoron address to check the well being of a child who was allegedly running around in the road without parental supervision. Carlson will be in Ellicott Town Court later.

COUNTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY

¯ Alexander Latta, 28, of Mayville, was arrested in November 2022 following the execution of a search warrant by the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office at his residence. Latta was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon. Latta pleaded guilty to second-degree attempted criminal possession of a weapon in July and has now been sentenced to three years in prison by Judge David Foley with three years post-release supervision.
