CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT
— DEWITTVILLE — A residential structure fire is being blamed on a light fixture in the ceiling of a second-floor laundry room.
Chautauqua County sheriff’s deputies report several area departments responded to the Wright Road blaze after 7 a.m. Saturday. Through an investigation and interviews with the home owners, it was determined the fire was accidental.
Other departments that responded included: Chautauqua, Hartfield, Mayville, Ashville, Maple Springs, Stockton, Bemus Point, Ellery Center and the county Emergency Services.
— HANOVER — Deputies responded to Route 5 and 20 and Erie Street for a report of a two-vehicle accident with injury Friday around 10:30 a.m. As a result, one individual was transported to the hospital for apparent non-life-threatening injuries. After investigation, Charles Gannon, 71, of Anderson, Ind., was issued a traffic ticket for failure to yield to the right of way. Gannon is to be in court later.
— At around 02:21 a.m. Sunday, deputies conducted a traffic stop on Fluvanna Avenue in the city of Jamestown. The operator of the vehicle was identified as Hector J. Montanez, 37, of Jamestown. Further investigation found Montanez to be driving while intoxicated. Montanez was arrested for DWI and later to be in Jamestown City Court for a later date and time.
JAMESTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT
— Michael L. McGaughy, 39, of Jamestown was charged with second-degree burglary and fourth-degree criminal mischief after a Friday night domestic incident.
At about 8:01 p.m., officers responded to an address on the north side. Officers were advised by dispatch that McGaughy was attempting to kick in the victim’s door. Upon arrival, an officer made contact with McGaughy and the victim. After further investigation it was discovered that McGaughy damaged the door of the victim.
The victim also reported a separate incident that occurred earlier in the day where McGaughy entered her residence without her permission and stole money out of her purse along with other items. He was taken into custody and transported to the city jail where he was being held pending arraignment.
— Stephen Baumann, 46, of Jamestown, was charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief after an incident Saturday at a downtown hotel.
Just after midnight, officers responded to the Doubletree Hotel, 150 W. Fourth St, for a disorderly male that staff wished to have removed. Upon further investigation, it was determined that Baumann had damaged property within a hotel room. Baumann was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Jamestown City Jail and released on an appearance ticket to be in court at a later date.
— Five individuals located in a Prendergast Avenue Saturday afternoon are facing charges. Around 1 p.m., officers observed Justin M. Rowe, 23, who had an outstanding bench warrant out of Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, enter the address. Upon further investigation, it was found that Rowe entered an apartment that was supposed to be vacant in attempt to hide from officers.
After multiple attempts to make contact with no response, officers made entry into the apartment. Upon entry to the apartment, officers located Rowe, Keith J. Seice, 36, Kristine E. McCool, 38, William E Blakey, 35, and Ella D. Rodgers, 56, all residing unlawfully inside of the apartment. All five subjects were taken into custody without incident, and transported to Jamestown City Jail where they were charged with second-degree criminal trespass and second-degree obstructing government administration.
While on scene, it was found that Seice was in the direct presence of a juvenile who had a valid stay away order of protection against Seice. Seice was additionally charged with endangering the welfare of a child, first-degree criminal contempt and aggravated family offense due to criminal history.
All five subjects are held pending arraignment in City Court.
— Ronald J. Maund, 22, of Jamestown, was charged with endangering the welfare of a child and fourth-degree grand larceny. At around 3 p.m. Saturday, officers of the second platoon responded to a north-side address for a domestic incident. Through investigation it was found that Maund took a cellphone out of the victim’s hands. A struggle ensued and a 2-year-old child was struck by the cellphone. Maund was being held in the city jail, pending arraignment. The child was not injured.
— Tiffany A. Haight, 42, was charged with felony DWI and felony DWI per se after being found in a lot Saturday evening. Before 8 p.m., members of the Jamestown Police Department responded to 7-Eleven on North Main St for a driver slumped over the wheel. Through investigation it was determined that the operator, Haight, had been operating the vehicle in an intoxicated condition. She was taken into custody and held pending arraignment.
— Aubreigh J. Howard 24, was charged with second-degree assault after an incident at a store downtown. At 7:30 p.m. Saturday, officers responded to Eastside Liquor store for a reported larceny turned assault. Upon arrival officers learned Howard of Jamestown had stolen a liquor bottle from the store before returning and striking a worker, who is over 65 years old, in the face causing injury. Howard was transported to the Jamestown City Jail and held pending arraignment.
— Rebecca H. Butcher was charged with second-degree criminal contempt, resisting arrest and second-degree harassment after an incident before 10 p.m. Saturday.
Officers were dispatched to an order of protection violation at a south side residence and advised that Butcher had recently unlawfully entered the residence of the victim but left shortly after.
Officers determined there is a valid order of protection ordering Butcher to stay away from the residence of the victim. Officers also found that Butcher had outstanding warrants from the Jamestown Police Department and the town of Poland. Officers located Butcher in a vehicle in close proximity to the residence.
When officers went to take Butcher into custody, she struck an officer in the head with a disposable cup filled with ice and proceeded to resist arrest. Butcher was taken into custody and held pending arraignment in the Jamestown City Jail.
Karen M. Danson, 37, and Andrew J. Cooley, 39, both of Jamestown charged after a domestic incident at 9:45 p.m. Saturday. Officers responded to a parking lot on the westside of Jamestown for a domestic dispute in progress. Upon arrival Danson and Cooley were both on scene yelling at each other. After further investigation, both parties were injured in multiple areas of their bodies. Both committed offenses against the other.
Cooley and Danson were charged with third-degree assault, fourth-degree criminal mischief. Cooley was also charged with criminal obstruction of breathing and aggravated family offense. Danson and Cooley both were transported to Jamestown City Jail pending arraignment.
