JAMESTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT
¯ James D. Mawhir, 33, and Jenell L. Long, 49, were each charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Officers stopped a vehicle at 9:55 p.m. Wednesday in the area of East Second Street for observed traffic infractions. An investigation determined that Mawhir and Long were allegedly in possession of a small quantity of fentanyl. While at the jail, Mawhir was also found with a small quantity of methamphetamine. Both are scheduled to appear in Jamestown City Court at a later date.
CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT
CARROLL — A Pennsylvania driver has been charged in a Tuesday accident on Frew Run Road near Wiltsie Road.
At about 7:22 p.m., deputies, New York State Police, along with Fire and EMS personnel responded to the accident with injury. After an investigation, it was found that Collin L. Stover, 19, of Pittsfield was traveling westbound. When he attempted to make left-hand turn onto Wiltsie Road, he failed to yield right of way to a dump truck that was traveling eastbound being operated by Jonathan T. Mosher, 24, of South Dayton. This action did cause a near head-on collision between the two vehicles.
Stover along with his two passengers, Aaron W. Anderson, 39, of Warren and Rodney T. Thomas, 34, of Youngsville were transported to UPMC Chautauqua hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
Stover was issued a traffic ticket for failure to yield right of way at an intersection, and will answer to the charge in Carroll Town Court at a later date.
