Crews battle blaze in Hanover

HANOVER — A mobile home was destroyed in a fire late Friday evening. Sunset Bay Voluteer Fire Department, on its Facebook page, reported the fire occurred on Angell Road at a trailer park. Crews assisted Silver Creek with fire suppression during heavy fire conditions. As of 12:30 a.m. Saturday, Sunset Bay crews were back at the station.

JAMESTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT

— A 41-year-old Jamestown man is facing charges after a Friday night incident that led to an officer receiving a minor injury.

James Caloren was charged with second-degree assault, first-degree reckless endangerment, resisting arrest, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon and obstructing governmental administration after a fight after 9 p.m.

When officers arrived at the Cherry Lounge, several patrons had Caloren pinned to the ground. Caloren was in possession of a knife and was threatening officers with it. As officers were disarming Caloren and attempting to take him into custody, one officer sustained a cut from the knife resulting in a minor injury. Caloren was then placed under arrest and transported to the city jail without further incident.

— A 19-year-old Jamestown resident has been charged with third-degree robbery and resisting arrest. At about 5:08 p.m. Friday, responded to the area of West Fifth St and Mechanics Alley for a fight. Officers observed Kayin Ziolkowski arguing with another male. Ziolkowski continued to display aggressive behavior and began to advance toward the male. Officers attempted to detain Ziolkowski and he began to pull away.

After a brief struggle, Ziolkowski was placed into custody. During the investigation, it was discovered that Ziolkowski had a domestic dispute with a female victim.

It was learned that Ziolkowski took the victim’s purse, while she was wearing it, and ran off. Ziolkowski was transported to the City Jail without further incident.

— Breanna L. Sample, 26, of Jamestown has been charged with third-degree criminal trespass after an incident Friday at a north side address. Around 7:09 p.m. officers observed two open windows to a residence. Upon further investigation, officers located Sample unlawfully inside of the residence, in which was posted not to be occupied by the City of Jamestown Department of Development. She was released and will return to city court later.

— Branden J. Ryan, 20, of Jamestown was charged with third-degree criminal trespass after a Friday evening incident.

Around 8:26 p.m., officers responded to an address on the east side. Ryan was located in the residence, which was condemned by the City of Jamestown Department of Development. He was taken into custody and transported to the city jail without incident.

— A pair of Mayville residents are facing drug charges after a traffic stop Thursday in the city. James D. Mawhir, 33, and Jenell L. Long, 47, face three counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and tampering with physical evidence at West Sixth Street near Lafayette Avenue right after midnight. During the investigation officers conducted a vehicle search which located a quantity of methamphetamine. Officers placed both occupants into custody and transported them to Jamestown City Jail. After an additional search in the City Jail officers located a quantity of Fentanyl that Mawhir was concealing in an intimate location to prevent officers from its discovery.
