JAMESTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT
— A 34-year-old Jamestown man is facing a number of charges after hitting a parked car early Sunday. Officers were on patrol on North Main Street when they observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed, turn west onto Fourth Street and drive straight into a parked car which was unoccupied around 12:30 a.m. The operator, Andrew R. Johnson, was taken into custody for driving while intoxicated along with numerous traffic violations.
A passenger in Johnson’s vehicle was transported to the hospital with apparent minor injuries. Once in the jail, Johnson damaged a toilet by kicking it until it detached from the wall and floor. Johnson began flushing the toilet which created a messy inconvenience for officers. Johnson was on additional charges of consuming alcohol in a motor vehicle, criminal tampering, third-degree criminal mischief and moving from lane unsafely.
— A Jamestown man was charged Saturday evening after a littering incident on West Sixth Street near Steele Street. Officers observed Patrick F. Patterson, 48, discard a piece of paper onto private property and continue walking without retrieving the paper.
Officers also were aware of an outstanding probation warrant for Patterson. He was taken into custody and in a search incident, officers located a quantity of methamphetamine. Patterson was charged
with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Patterson was held pending arraignment in the Jamestown City Jail.
— Shiobhan A. Snow, 28, of Frewsburg, was charged with operating without insurance, DWI per se and driving while intoxicated after an incident on South Main Street at 2:07 a.m. Saturday.
CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT
— A kitchen fire on Pine Ridge Road was quelled before noon Saturday in the town of Busti.
At about 11:46 a.m., Busti Fire Department and mutual aid were able to respond to the scene and extinguish the fire. The Sheriff’s Office Fire Investigation Team was requested to assist in determining the cause and origin of the fire.
An investigation determined the fire originated on top of an electric kitchen stove due to overheated and unattended cooking oil. No injuries were reported.
