LAKEWOOD-BUSTI POLICE DEPARTMENT

¯ Elisha A. Surprenant, 40, of Mapleshade, N.J., was charged with petit larceny. Surprenant was taken into custody at 10:23 p.m. Thursday after allegedly shoplifting at Walmart by concealing $241.74 worth of merchandise in a shopping cart. Surprenant is scheduled to appear in Busti Town Court later.

CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE

¯ Gary D. Thompson, 56, of Bemus Point, was charged with driving while intoxicated, DWI per se, and speed not reasonable and prudent. Deputies responded at 1:52 a.m. Friday to a property damage accident on Bayview Road in Bemus Point. Upon arrival, deputies located the vehicle and identified the driver as Thompson. An investigation determined that Thompson was allegedly operating the vehicle while intoxicated. He was processed and released with tickets to appear in court later. No one was injured in the crash.

JAMESTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT

¯ Two 17-year-old juvenile males were each charged with second- and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon and second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia. One of the juveniles was additionally charged with tampering with physical evidence and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Officers stopped an SUV at 12:22 a.m. Thursday for a traffic violation. Officers reportedly observed items in the vehicle associated with the use/packaging of illegal drugs. Officers conducted a search of the vehicle and located numerous items of drug paraphernalia as well as a loaded revolver. Upon inspection of the revolver, officers observed that the serial number was defaced. While at the Juvenile Bureau, it was discovered that the juvenile operator had attempted to conceal a small quantity of fentanyl. Both males were processed and released to their guardians with appearance tickets to appear in Chautauqua County Family Court at a later date.
