City Man

Sentenced On Weapon Charge, Probation Violation

A 44-year-old Jamestown man will serve several years in state prison on a weapons possession conviction.

Anthony Cunningham was sentenced Monday by County Court Judge David Foley to nine years in addition to five years of post-release supervision. In June, Cunningham pleaded guilty to a charge of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

In June 2022, Cunningham was taken into custody after a search warrant was executed by members of the Jamestown Police Department. At the time he was charged with criminal possession of a weapon as well as third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

His nine-year prison sentence will run concurrently with an eight-year sentence Foley also handed down for a probation violation from a previous felony conviction.

“The DA would like to thank the Jamestown Police Department for their hard work on this case,” Jason Schmidt, Chautauqua County district attorney, said Monday in a statement.
