JAMESTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT
¯ Before 1 a.m. Thursday, Jamestown Police stopped a vehicle on East Fifth Street for a traffic violation. Through an investigation it was determined that the operator of the vehicle, Cheryl A. Surrena, 36, of Jamestown, had been operating the vehicle in an intoxicated condition. Surrena was taken into custody and transported to the Jamestown City Jail where she was being held pending arraignment after refusing to submit to a chemical test.
¯ A city woman is facing a number of charges after a domestic incident late Wednesday. Jamestown police responded to a residence on the north side of the city around 11:08 p.m. When officers arrived, they made contact with the victim who stated that Maria Covert, 23, had entered their house unlawfully and held them against their will. Covert eventually left the residence but was located by officers a short distance away. During the course of the investigation it was found there was a valid order of protection for Covert to stay away from the victim. Covert was taken into custody without incident and transported to the city jail. She was charged with second-degree burglary, first-degree criminal contempt and second-degree unlawful imprisonment. Covert is being held until she can be arraigned.
CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT
¯ A traffic violation led to further charges against a Forestville resident. At about 1:52 a.m., Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Deputies stopped a vehicle. After an investigation Donald A Dipirro, 48, was charged with no stopping/standing/parking on a highway, third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, DWI, aggravated DWI .18 or higher. Dipirro was released with traffic tickets to be in the town of Pomfret Court at a later date.
¯ HANOVER — Deputies responded to an address for a report of an altercation around 9:20 Thursday morning. Through an investigation, it was determined that Robert L. Lyman, 29, of Hanover, did make unwanted physical contact with an individual during an argument. He was charged with second-degree harassment and transported to Mayville for centralized arraignment.
