JAMESTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT

— A Rochester man is facing charges after he was allegedly seen consuming alcohol in a public place while in possession of drugs. At about 8 p.m. Saturday, officers responded to an address on the south side of Jamestown for a suspicious male. On arrival officers located the male who refused to identify himself.

The male then attempted to enter a victim’s residence whom he didn’t know in an attempt to evade police interaction. The male, later identified as Bruce J. Miles, 34, was taken into custody. A search of Miles yielded 14.7 grams of cocaine-fentanyl combination. Miles was charged with second-degree criminal trespass and third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Miles was also was charged with resisting arrest as he fought with officers. Miles was being held in the Jamestown City jail pending arraignment.

— A Jamestown man is facing charges after a traffic stop Saturday morning. Jamestown police report the incident took place around 9 a.m. on Harrison Street due to failure of the driver to obey a stop sign as well as insufficient tail lamps. Upon speaking with the operator, Daniel Garcia, 53, it was found that he was operating the vehicle without a license.

During a search incident to arrest, he was found to be in possession of a red cylinder containing a white powdery substance, which later tested positive for less than one gram of cocaine. He was transported to Jamestown City Jail without incident and charged with first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

— City police charged a Jamestown man for violating an order to stay away. After midnight Sunday, officers were patrolling the area of Barrett Avenue and Harrison Street when officers observed Kieran J. Hunt, 31, following a female on the sidewalk. Officers were aware that Hunt had a valid order of protection ordering him to stay away from the female.

Officers made contact with Hunt who was taken into custody. Officers later determined Hunt has been convicted of violating the order of protection in the past which caused him to be charged with first-degree criminal contempt and aggravated family offense. He was held pending arraignment in the Jamestown City Jail.

— Marcos F. Reyes, 21, of Jamestown, was nabbed Thursday on a warrant by city police. Around 12:37 p.m., during a warrant check at 269 Fairmount Ave., officers ended up locating Reyes exiting the rear of the building. Officers were aware that Reyes had an active state parole absconder warrant. When officers attempted to place Reyes into custody he fled on foot, leading officers on a brief foot pursuit. Reyes was caught and placed into custody where he was transported to the Jamestown City Jail. He also was charged with resisting arrest. He was then turned over to the Chautauqua County Jail on his Parole Warrant.
