JAMESTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT

¯ Fernando N. Velazquez Nazario, 36, no address listed, was charged with aggravated criminal contempt, aggravated family offense and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Officers at 3:35 p.m. Sunday observed Velazquez Nazario walking with a female during a patrol of Baker Street and Prather Avenue. The woman had a valid stay away order of protection in place. Velazquez Nazario was taken into custody without incident and was allegedly later found with two suboxone strips. He was being held for arraignment in Jamestown City Court.

SENTENCING

¯ Philip Whitfield, 30, of Fredonia, was sentenced Friday by County Court Judge David Foley to an indeterminate state prison sentence of 2 and 1/3 years to 7 years for violating his conditions of probation on a conviction of third-degree robbery. Whitfield was sentenced to a term of five years of probation on the robbery charge in County Court in August 2021.
