JAMESTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT
¯ Howard L McAvoy, 45, no address listed, was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs and moving from lane unsafely. Officers responded at 5:12 a.m. Wednesday to the north side of the city for a crash. McAvoy was located in the driver’s seat and was found to have numerous injuries. McAvoy was transported to UPMC Chautauqua for treatment. An investigation determined that McAvoy was allegedly driving while his ability was impaired by drugs. He is scheduled to appear in court later.
¯ Kaula E. Frank, 30, of Little Valley, was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and second-degree criminal using drug paraphernalia. Stephen P. Glover Sr., 39, of Jamestown, was taken into custody on outstanding warrants with the Jamestown Police Department. Officers stopped a vehicle at 10:01 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Arterial and Prospect streets. Glover was discovered to have warrants while Frank was allegedly found with 27 grams of suspected methamphetamine. Both were transported to jail and held for arraignment.
CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT
¯ POMFRET — At about 3 p.m. Tuesday, members Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division were conducting an investigation at a local business on Bennett Road in the town of Pomfret. They were alerted to a shoplifting that had just occurred. This was a separate incident from what was originally being investigated. Investigators made contact with the suspect, who was identified as Renee L. Mighells, 35, of Olean. It is alleged that Mighells concealed merchandise from the store and walked out without paying. She was found to be in possession of the same merchandise upon contact from investigators and was charged with petit larceny and fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property. She will be in town of Pomfret court later.
¯ FALCONER — The Chautauqua County Fire Investigation Team was called to investigate a fire that occurred in a shed on Waterman Road. After an investigation of the structure and interviews with the homeowners, the cause of the fire appeared to be accidental in nature. The Ellington Fire Department assisted at the scene.
