CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE

¯ MAYVILLE — William R. Tilyou, 33, of Jamestown, was charged with second-degree criminal contempt. Jail officials were tipped off to a possible order of protection violation occurring during a video visit between Tilyou and an unidentified female. An investigation found that Tilyou allegedly participated in a video visit Jan. 24 with a female who had a valid order of protection against him. Tilyou was held for central arraignment program on the new charge.

JAMESTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT

¯ Amanda R. Whitford, 28, of Celoron, and Aaron T. Monroe, 34, of Gerry, were each charged with second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and two counts of second-degree criminally using drug parahernalia. Officers stopped a vehicle at 12:20 a.m. Tuesday on Prather Avenue for reportedly having a brake light out. Officers observed drug parahernalia in plain view within the vehicle. A search turned up 5.585 ounces of methamphetamine in the vehicle along with packaging material and two digital scales. Whitford was the driver while Monroe was identified as a passenger. Monroe was allegedly found to have 15.5 grams of fentanyl in his pocket while Whitford was found with an additional 2.2 grams of methamphetamine. Both were transported to Jamestown City Jail and held for arraignment.

¯ Eric R. VanGiesen, 37, of Jamestown, was charged with first-degree burglary, second-degree menacing, two counts of endangering the welfare of a child and three counts of second-degree unlawful imprisonment. Officers responded at 8:30 p.m. Sunday to the east side of the city for a reported burglary. An investigation found that VanGiesen allegedly broke into a residence through a window. Using a knife, he then reportedly menaced another person who was holding her children. VanGiesen was later located in a nearby residence and was taken into custody. He was transported to Jamestown City Jail and held for arraignment.
