DUNKIRK POLICE DEPARTMENT

— DUNKIRK — Dunkirk Police have made an arrest in a hit-and-run accident that occurred at Lake Shore Drive East and Main Street in the city.

After an extensive investigation by the patrol and detective divisions, Dwayne Nicholson, age 58, of Dunkirk with leaving the scene of a personal injury accident and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle at 9:38 p.m. Dec. 30. The pedestrian involved in the accident was taken to the Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo for medical treatment and has since been released from the hospital.

JAMESTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT

— A 41-year-old Jamestown man has been charged with endangering the welfare of a child.

Around 12:30 p.m. Saturday, city officers were called to an address on the South side to check the well-being of a 3-year-old. It was reported the young child was outside for an extended period of time, unsupervised, with inadequate clothing for the inclement weather.

It was also advised a male subject at that address had an active warrant out of Jamestown Police Department for Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Rick H. Coy, who officers were able to make contact with and take into custody on his active warrant, was transported to Jamestown Police Department jail and was held pending his arraignment.

— On Saturday, city officers were given a tip that Chelsea T. Coulter was at a house in the area of Washington Street.

Prior to officer’s arrival, Coulter left the residence on foot. Officers checked the area and were able to locate Coulter walking into a store. Coulter, 30, of Jamestown was placed into custody on her outstanding warrants out of the City of Jamestown. While officers were conducting a search of Coulter it revealed that she possessed a quantity of methamphetamine. Coulter was transported to the City Jail on her warrants and charged additionally with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. She was being held pending her arraignment.

— At about 2 p.m. Friday, officers responded to the north side of the city for a report of a prowler in the area. Officers located a male matching the description of the prowler, who was later identified as Blaydon F. Niles, 31, of Falconer, and observed the male to be riding a bicycle on a city sidewalk. When officers attempted to stop the male, he began to flee officers on the bicycle. Officers were able to pursue Blaydon, and place him into custody after a brief struggle.

Blaydon had an active bench warrant out of the city of Jamestown, and was transported to Jamestown City Jail without further incident.

— At around 9 a.m. Saturday, officers responded to a residence on the south side of the city on Broadhead Avenue for an unwanted person complaint. Upon further

investigation, it was found that Michael J. Ayers, 31, of Jamestown, struck the victim in the mouth with a closed fist causing the victim to sustain physical injuries. Ayers was placed into custody and transported to the Jamestown City Jail without incident. He was charged with third-degree assault 3rd and was held pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court.

— At 7:20 p.m. Thursday, city officers were dispatched to an address on the south side of the city for a disturbance.

On arrival officers learned that Joshua Erhard, 39, had pulled the door off of a victim’s residence by hooking it up with chains and his pick up truck. Erhard fled the scene prior to officers arrival. During the investigation, Jamestown Police were assisted by the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office who located the pick up truck in question in the Mayville area.

Erhard was located and taken into custody. Erhard was charged with third-degree criminal mischief. Officers were also advised that during the incident, the pickup truck got stuck in a wet yard and sprayed mud all over a nearby house. Erhard was additionally charged with third-degree criminal tampering. Erhard was released with an appearance ticket after booking procedures.

CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT

STOCKTON — At approximately 5:30 a.m. Saturday, deputies observed a suspicious vehicle at a business. After an investigation James D Mawhir, 33, was charged with petit larceny, third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and operating without insurance. Mawhir was released to return to the town court at a later date.
