JAMESTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT

¯ Steven E. Brown, 45, no address listed, was charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief. Officers responded at 4 p.m. Sunday to a residence on the city’s south side for a criminal mischief complaint. An investigation found that Brown allegedly damaged another person’s property. He was processed and issued a ticket to appear in court later.

¯ Michael S. McCool, 61, of Jamestown, was charged with two counts of fourth-degree criminal possesion of a weapon and two counts of second-degree menacing. Officers responded at 7 p.m. Sunday to an address on the city’s north side for a report of a person with a weapon. It was learned that McCool allegedly brandished a machete and an ax and swung them several times at multiple victims on scene. No one was injured in the incident. McCool was transported to Jamestown City Jail and held for arraignment in Jamestown City Court.

¯ Raushaun M. Smith, 44, no address listed, was charged with first-degree burglary, second-degree menacing, second-degree assault, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Officers were called at 7 a.m. Friday to a reported burglary at the Parkview Apartments. It was reported that Smith had allegedly menaced the tenants with a knife. While Smith was in the apartment, he reportedly became disorderly, physically assaulted one of the victim’s with a knife and menaced another victim. Smith was taken into custody where he was found with quantity of methamphetamine. Smith was arraigned and committed to Chautauqua County Jail.

¯ Michael L. McGaughy, 38, of Jamestown, was charged with second-degree menacing and second-degree harassment. Officers responded at 6:30 p.m. Friday to the west side of the city for a report of a person with a weapon. An investigation found that McGaughy allegedly threw a clock at another person before menacing them with an archery bow. McGaughy was transported to jail and held for arraignment.

LAKEWOOD-BUSTI POLICE DEPARTMENT

¯ Leanne R. White, 38, of Irving, was charged with petit larceny, fourth-degree criminal mischief and third-degree burglary. Patrol was dispatched to Walmart at 7:08 p.m. Saturday for a shoplifting incident. Asset Protection pointed out the person attempting to flee, who was identified as White. She was found to have allegedly pushed a cart containing 56 items valued at $588.79 out of the store. White has previously been restricted from all Walmart stores in April 2021 due to a similar incident in Fredonia. White was also found to have an outstanding warrant from the Hamburg Police Department. She was released with tickets to appear in Busti Town Court later.

¯ Tyler R. Elsesser, 37, of Jamestown, was charged with petit larceny and third-degree burglary. Patrol was dispatched at 10:43 p.m. Saturday to Walmart for a shoplifting incident. Elsesser was detained by Asset Protection. Elsesser allegedly removed a pair of $24.98 earbuds from the store without paying and was found to have been previously restricted from all Walmart stores in April 2019 for a similar incident. Elsesser was released with tickets to appear in court later.

CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY DA’S OFFICE

¯ Anthony Cunningham, 44, of Jamestown, was sentenced by County Court Judge David Foley to eight years in state prison and three years of post-release supervision for violating the terms of his probation. Cunningham previously was sentenced to five years of probation in 2018 after pleading guilty to two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. The violation of probation was filed by the Chautauqua County Department of Probation after Cunningham was arrested on June 15, 2022, by the Jamestown Police Department on charges of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon. Cunningham has been indicted on the June 15 charges and is scheduled to appear in Chautauqua County Court on Jan. 9.
