JAMESTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT

¯ Jon M. Morton, 36, of Jamestown, was charged Nov. 3, at about 9:45 p.m. with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child. According to police, officers responded to an address on the south side of Jamestown for a reported domestic dispute. Upon arrival, officers spoke with Morton and a female victim. Upon further investigation, officers determined that Morton allegedly endangered the welfare of two victims who were less than 17 years old. Morton was taken into custody and transported to city jail and will be in city court later.

¯ Jared C. Jacobs, no age or address given, was charged Nov. 3 at about 2:08 p.m. with third-degree criminal possession of stolen property. According to police, officers responded to the area of 240 W. Virginia Blvd. for a reported suspicious situation. Upon arrival, officers observed Jacobs sleeping in a vehicle. The vehicle, according to police, was reported stolen on Nov. 2. Jacobs was taken into custody and transported to city jail. He will be in city court later.

¯ Michael A. Bane, 23, no address given, was charged Sunday, at 5:04 p.m., with two counts of first-degree criminal contempt, aggravated family offense, resisting arrest, and second-degree harassment. According to police, officers responded to south side for a reported domestic dispute. Upon arrival, officers located Bane, and taken into custody on a warrant from JPD. Upon further investigation, officers learned that Bane allegedly shoved a victim to the ground, violating an order of protection. Bane allegedly became non-compliant and attempted to fight with officers after he was informed he was under arrest. Bane was taken into custody, and transported to city jail, and will be in city court later.

¯ Shawn A. Sobczak, 35, of Jamestown, was charged Monday at 3:14 a.m. with resisting arrest, second-degree obstructing governmental administration, third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, two counts seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia, and attempted assault on a police officer. According to police, officers conducted a street check on Sobczak near West Third and Hallock streets. Upon further investigation, Sobczak was found to have an active warrant. When told of the warrant, Sobczak allegedly was non-compliant. Police said as officers attempted to take Sobczak into custody, he became physically aggressive and with a closed fist, allegedly struck a uniformed police officer in the face. After a brief struggle, Sobczak was taken into custody. After more investigation, officers allegedly found a quantity of methamphetamine and cocaine. He was transported to city jail, and will be in city court later.

¯ Charles H. Karr Jr., no age or address given, was charged Monday at 12:45 p.m. with second-degree strangulation, first-degree criminal contempt, and aggravated family offense. According to police, officers responded to an address on the east side for a reported domestic incident. Upon arrival, officers found Karr had allegedly placed a belt around the neck of the victim, and applied pressure, causing the victim to lose consciousness. Upon further investigation, it was found that Karr had an order of protection against him. Karr was taken into custody, and transported to city jail. He will be in city court later.

CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF

¯ ELLERY — A Sinclairville man was injured in an accident on Route 380 Monday morning.

Chautauqua County sheriff’s deputies reported they as well as Sinclairville Fire Department and Gerry Fire Department, responded to the accident that occurred around 7:13. It was determined that Michael Lanphere, 28, of Sinclairville, was traveling north and entered into the southbound lane directly toward another vehicle. The second vehicle was unable to avoid Lanphere resulting in the head-on collision.

Lanphere sustained serious injuries. He was flown from the scene. The other operator sustained minor injuries and was released.

¯ FREDONIA — Around 2:26 a.m. Friday, deputies ostopped a vehicle in the village of Fredonia for an alleged traffic violation. Through investigation it was determined that the operator of the vehicle, 32-year-old Tyvone L. Casey, of Dunkirk -was operating the vehicle while intoxicated. Casey was charged with felony DWI due to a conviction in the preceding 10 years; aggravated DWI , first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, speed in zone, and unlicensed operator. Casey was transported to the Sheriff’s Office in Mayville and later brought to the Chautauqua County Jail for arraignment.
