¯ ELLERY — A home destroyed due to an electric problem will be torn down in an emergency demolition.

At about 7:43 p.m. Tuesday, the Maple Springs Fire Department along with mutual aid and the Sheriff’s Office responded to the residential fire on Park Place. The reported fire was a single family residence with flames spreading to a neighboring residence. Once the fire was extinguished, the Sheriff’s Fire Investigation team was requested to determine the cause and origin.

Investigators determined the fire originated in the living area due to an electric problem. No injuries were reported.

¯ HANOVER — Deputies were dispatched to an address on West Spears Road in the town of Hanover on Sept. 29 for a reported disorderly person. Upon arrival, deputies located Zach R. Roche, 21, who was actively violating a stay away order of protection. Deputies attempted to place Roche in custody when he fled and led patrol on a short foot pursuit.

Roche was subsequently apprehended and transported to the Hanover substation for processing where he was charged with second-degree criminal contempt and resisting arrest. Roche was released to be in Hanover town court later.

JAMESTOWN

POLICE DEPARTMENT

¯ A city man was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and failing to stop at a stop sign. According to police, Carlos Rivera Leon, 56, no address given, was stopped Tuesday at about 1:39 p.m. near West Second and Sprague streets. Upon further investigation officers found Leon allegedly to be in possession of Taurus .40-caliber semi-automatic pistol. Police said Leon does not possess a New York state pistol permit, and has multiple felony convictions. He was taken to Jamestown City Jail and will be in city court later.

¯ Christopher A. Hibbard, 41, of Jamestown, no address given, was charged with overdriving, torturing and injuring animals, and failure to provide proper sustenance Tuesday. According to police, officers responded to an address on the north side of the city to remove a dog from a residence., Upon arrival, officers located a dog that was dead. The dog’s owner, Hibbard, police said, allegedly had not provided food and water to the dog. Upon further investigation, it was found that Hibbard had failed to seek necessar medical attention for the dog once it was in a malnourished state. Hibbard was taken to city jail and released will appear in city court later.

¯ Michael R. Brown, 51, of Jamestown, was charged with seventh degree possession of a controlled substance on a bench warrant. According to police, at about 3:25 p.m. Tuesday, officers responded to 426 Allen St. to investigate a possible trespass. Upon arrival, officers located Brown and Jared C. Jacobs, 30. Brown, police said, was found to be in possession of a controlled substance is his left coat pocket. Brown was taken to city jail and will be in city court later.

¯ Derek M. Ahlquist, 34, of Jamestown, was charged Saturday with two counts of second-degree menacing, and endangering the welfare of a child. According to police, at about 9:30 p.m. officers responded to an address on the westide of the city for a reported person with a weapon. Upon arrival, officers spoke with Ahlquist, and upon further investigation it was alleged that Ahlquist was the primary aggressor and was taken into custody for allegedly threatening a female with a gun in the presence of their child in common. The gun was seized, and Ahlquist was taken to city jail and will be in city court later.
