CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF

— HANOVER — A Silver Creek man was transported to Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo after an ATV accident late Friday.

Before 11 p.m., Chautauqua County sheriff’s deputies, the Silver Creek Fire Department, Chautauqua County EMS, Sunset Bay Fire Department and Forestville Fire Department responded to the accident in Walnut Creek.

The operator of the ATV Robert P. Beckstrom, 46, was driving near Walnut Creek when he lost control and crashed. Beckstrom was found injured, but responsive on scene.

Beckstrom was extricated from Walnut Creek and transported by STAT Medevac to ECMC for treatment of his injuries.

— PANAMA — At about 6:40 a.m. Friday, deputies responded to an unwanted person complaint on East Main Street. Upon arrival, a male later identified as Steven Schrecengost, fled into a wooded area. Schrecengost was known to be wanted in the town of Ellicott and the city of Jamestown for criminal mischief and two counts of disobeying an order of protection.

A Sheriff’s K9 was deployed into the area where Schrecengost, 28, of Jamestown was last seen. A short time later deputies received a call indicating a male who matched Schrecengost’s description entered an apartment complex on East Main Street. Deputies, assisted by state troopers, entered the apartment, and located Schrecengost hiding in a utility room.

Schrecengost was turned over to the City of Jamestown.

CATTARAUGUS COUNTY SHERIFF

— SOUTH DAYTON — A village man was charged after allegedly taking a $2.99 beef jerky packet. Deputies report Joshua T. Press, 30, of 316 Oak St., was charged with petit larceny after the theft from the Super Duper on Saturday. He was released and will be in court later.

— GOWANDA — A village resident was picked up on a bench warrant by deputies early Sunday. Deputies report Ayden Jimerson, 24, of 13764 Route 438, was picked up after a warrant was issued by Cattaraugus County Court on third-degree grand larceny and trespass. He was being held in Cattaraugus County Jail.
