COUNTY SHERIFF

— ASHVILLE — Chautauqua County Sheriff’s deputies responded to 8248 Griswold Road for a criminal mischief report around 9:30 a.m. Sunday. It is alleged that Mason A. Riggle, 47, of Ashville threatened another person with a baseball bat as well as damage another person’s property.

Riggle was charged with third-degree criminal mischief and second-degree menacing. Riggle was transported to county jail for centralized arraignment.

— ELLERY — At about 01:53 a.m. Sunday, the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on Route 430. The operator of the vehicle was identified as 47-year-old Brian L. Nelson of Lexington, S.C. Further investigation found Nelson to be DWI. Nelson was charged with DWI, DWI per se, and speed in zone. He was released and will be in town court at a later date.

— HARMONY — At around 5:20 p.m. Saturday,deputies conducted a vehicle and traffic stop on Route 474. Upon further investigation it was found the Michael C. Burham, who was the operator, was driving while intoxicated. Burham, 33, of Russell, Pa., was placed into custody and transported to the Sheriff Office Substation. He was released to be in the Town of Harmony court at a later date.

— ARKWRIGHT — At 2:20 p.m. Saturday, deputies were dispatched to an address on Center Road for a report of an unwanted person.

Upon investigation into the incident it was reported that 55-year-old Ida L. Weber Smith had entered and remained unlawfully in a residence that she did not have a right to enter. She was located and taken into custody for second-degree criminal trespass. Further investigation revealed that Weber Smith was in violation of an order of protection.

She was transported to the Chautauqua County Jail for arraignment and will answer the charges in the town later.

— DUNKIRK — At about 5:54 p.m. Friday, patrol responded to TJ Maxx in the town of Dunkirk for a shoplifting complaint.

Upon further investigation it was found that John R. Tenamore, 41, of the city had taken many items from the store without paying. He was placed in custody, charged with petit larceny and released with appearance tickets for a later date.
