Youths Charged In Lakewood Burglary Incident
LAKEWOOD — Three 12-year-old youths are facing grand larceny and burglary charges after police say they illegally entered a home and removed liquor bottles and a handgun.
Officers with the Lakewood-Busti Police Department were called June 22 to a residence along Chautauqua Lake for a burglary complaint.
While on scene, officers learned that the Lakewood residence had been entered illegally.
“The police also learned that multiple liquors bottle and a 9mm handgun were removed from the home,” the department said in a news release Wednesday.
A review of security video reportedly showed the suspects — later identified as three 12-year-old males, two from Jamestown and the third from Lakewood — swimming in the homeowner’s pool.
An investigation led to the youths, and the handgun was later recovered, Lakewood-Busti police said.
The juveniles were petitioned to family court on charges of fourth-degree grand larceny, second-degree burglary and petit larceny. Officers were assisted by the Jamestown Police Juvenile Bureau and Jamestown Metro Drug Task Force.
