Man, 51, Dies In Fall From Roof

CHAUTAUQUA — A 51-year-old man died after falling from a roof.

At approximately 7:50 a.m. Friday, Chautauqua County sheriff’s deputies were called to assist EMS for a fall victim at Chautauqua Institution. Preliminary investigations show the male fell from a roof top while working construction and was pronounced deceased at the scene due to the injuries sustained in the fall.

The incident remains under investigation. Chautauqua Fire Department also assisted at the scene.

CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF

LAKEWOOD — Around 11:10 p.m. Saturday, a vehicle complaint was called in reporting that a female subject had left the Applebee’s parking lot in Lakewood and was operating a motor vehicle in an intoxicated state.

Lakewood-Busti Police and deputies of the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office responded. The vehicle described in the call was located immediately and a traffic stop was conducted for an observed traffic infraction.

The operator was identified as 39-year-old Sandra Cassford of Olean. A subsequent investigation led to her being charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated. Cassford was transported to a substation, issued tickets and released. She is to be in court at a later date.

HANOVER — Around 9:12 p.m. Friday, deputies with the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office responded to an address in the town for an harassment complaint.

Through an investigation it was discovered that an Ernest L. Harriger, 63 of Forestville, had made verbal threats to another person’s life. Harriger was charged with second-degree aggravated harassment and later released with tickets to be at the Town of Hanover Court later
