NEW YORK STATE POLICE

¯ GERRY — Jeffrey Holmberg, 29, of Dunkirk, was charged with felony driving while ability impaired by drugs, first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia. Troopers stopped Holmberg Monday on Route 60 in Gerry for a traffic violation. Holmberg was taken into custody after allegedly failing several field sobriety tests. Drugs and a digital scale containing drug residue were allegedly located inside Holmberg’s vehicle. A check later showed a previous driving while ability impaired conviction in the past 10 years. He is scheduled to appear in Gerry Town Court later.

DUNKIRK FIRE

DEPARTMENT

DUNKIRK — A missing person at Cedar Beach, found in Lake Erie approximately 100 yards off shore, was located by city fire officials on Thursday evening. Dunkirk Fire Department reports it was dispatched at 8:28 p.m. to assist the Police Department with locating the person. Firefighters, using thermal imaging and spotlights, located the subject in the waters. The individual was assisted from the water by fire and police personnel and transported by Alstar ambulance. All fire department units were clear of the incident at 9:03 p.m.

CATTARAUGUS COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE

RANDOLPH — Cattaraugus County sheriff’s deputies were called at 3:36 p.m. on Thursday to a crash involving four vehicles on Interstate 86 in the town of Randolph. Three minor injuries were reported. A preliminary investigation found that a vehicle was traveling east when the driver lost control and ended up in the median on its side. A vehicle traveling west observed the accident and stopped to assist. A third vehicle was traveling west striking the vehicle that had stopped to assist, coming to rest in the middle of the westbound lane. A fourth vehicle attempted to avoid the collision and went off the north side of the shoulder striking a guardrail. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the New York State Police, state Forest Rangers, Randolph Regional EMS, Randolph Fire Department, Seneca EMS, Trans Am, Coldspring Fire Department, East Randolph Fire Department, and Kennedy Fire Department. The investigation is ongoing and charges are pending.

JAMESTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT

¯ Kyle N. Lewis, 30, of Jamestown, was charged with four counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia. Michael McIntyre, 60, of Jamestown, was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. A search warrant was executed at 6:05 a.m. on Friday at 2 Barrows St. A search of the residence revealed a quantity of fentanyl, methamphetamine, crack cocaine, powder cocaine, Alprazolam, subutex strips, scales, packaging materials and cash. Lewis and McIntyre were transported to Jamestown City Jail and arraigned in court.

¯ Dale R. Linkous Jr., 23, of Jamestown, was charged with third- and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia. Officers responded at 12:44 p.m. on Thursday to Benson Street to check on a man who was allegedly slumped over the wheel of a parked vehicle. An investigation found that Linkous had fallen asleep and that the vehicle was not legally registered. He was later found with a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. Linkous was held for arraignment.
