Police ID Man Killed While Repairing Vehicle

A 28-year-old Ashville man who had been working on a pickup truck was killed when the vehicle fell on top of him.

First responders, which included members of the Jamestown Fire and Police departments, were called around 7 a.m. Friday to ServiceMaster, 153 Hopkins Ave., for a report of a person trapped under a pickup truck. The incident occurred in a garage toward the rear of the property.

Capt. Robert Samuelson of the Jamestown Police Department said it appears Ashville resident Christopher Brawdy had been underneath the rear of the vehicle Thursday when a jack gave way around 4:30 p.m., pinning him underneath.

Brawdy was found Friday morning, and a coroner was later requested at the scene.

“The victim died as result of injuries sustained from the weight of the vehicle falling upon him while he worked on the truck,” Jamestown police said in a news release, later adding, “The cause of death is believed to be accidental.”

Brawdy was not an employee of the business. Samuelson said he was using the garage to do private work on the vehicle.

Starting at $3.50/week.
