Westfield Man Charged In Burglary Of Guns And ATV

WESTFIELD — A Westfield resident has been charged in connection with a burglary at 7449 Bliss Road.

Chautauqua County sheriff road patrol took the complaint in late June. It was reported to deputies that several long guns and a 2004 Polaris 400 Sportsman 4X4 were taken. On Monday, information was obtained that a Cortland Hepfner, 20, of 7281 Route 20 was attempting to sell long guns matching those stolen from Bliss Road and was driving around with them in his vehicle.

Criminal investigators from the sheriff’s pffice located this vehicle parked at Hepfner’s residence unoccupied. Investigators located Hepfner at this location and further investigation led to Hepfner turning over two of the reported stolen long guns from Bliss Road. Hepfner turned himself Tuesday and was remanded to County Jail awaiting Centralized Arraignment on charges of second-degree burglary, fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property and fourth-degree grand larceny. Deputies were assisted by Westfield Police Department.

As the result of this investigation, the 2004 Polaris 400 Sportsman was also recovered by Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Department.
