Two Rescued From Ripley House Fire

RIPLEY — Two people were rescued from a fire late Friday at 5360 Wattlesburg Road.

Ripley Hose Co. 1 reported Saturday afternoon fire Chief Mark Smith and two civilians were able to reach the two who were trapped inside of the house during the fire that began around 9:30 p.m. Both were taken to a hospital for an evaluation.

Firefighters remained at the scene until 4:30 a.m. and struggled at times to extinguish the blaze due to debris in the house.

Investigators from the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Department were at the scene. Also assisting were crews from South Ripley, North East, Westfield, Portland and Rescue 71 from Sheridan.
