CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF

MINA — Deputies stopped a vehicle on Mann Road in the town of Mina for speeding around 9:30 p.m. Saturday. The operator was identified as Emilee A. Carlson, 28, of Clymer, and an investigation found her to be impaired by drugs. It was also found that Carlson’s privileges to operate a motor vehicle in New York state had been suspended. Carlson was taken into custody and further investigation found her to be in possession of methamphetamines and concentrated cannabis.

After processing, she was released with appearance tickets. Carlson will appear in Town of Mina Court at a later date to answer charges of driving while ability impaired by drugs and two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and speed in zone.

WESTFIELD — At about 3 a.m., deputies along with Westfield Police Department conducted a traffic stop on Route 20 in the town for reports of a speeding pickup driving erratically and causing a disturbance in the Portland-Westfield area. The vehicle matching the description was stopped for questioning and during the investigation it was discovered that one of the passenger’s had a valid order of protection against another passenger identified as, Timothy A. Hunzinger, 20, of Westfield.

Hunzinger was taken into custody and charged with second-degree criminal contempt. Hunzinger was transported to Chautauqua County Jail to be arraigned through the Centralized Arraignment Process.

NEW YORK STATE POLICE

BEMUS POINT — Jamestown troopers charged Jackie Chapman, 29, of Jamestown, with driving while intoxicated. Chapman was pulled over for driving 98 miles per hour in a 65 mph zone on I-86 and after failing several field sobriety tests, Chapman was placed under arrest. Chapman was transported to SP Jamestown where he provided a breath sample of 0.16. Chapman was then processed, issued tickets and released. Chapman is scheduled to appear in the town of Ellery Court later in the month.

RED HOUSE — A stolen vehicle from Olean Hospital led to a traffic chase by New York State Police before they caught up with a 28-year-old Marcellus man.

Troopers out of Jamestown charged Zachary Barner with fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, third-degree unlawful fleeing of a police officer in a motor vehicle and driving while ability impaired by drugs on Thursday.

Cattaraugus County 911 advised all area patrols that a white 2007 Dodge Charger was just stolen from Olean General Hospital and that the suspect was Barner. Troopers observed the suspect vehicle on Interstate 86 in Red House and attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but the vehicle failed to comply. The vehicle continued, driving in the shoulder and exiting the roadway multiple times as it fled from the Troopers, the Cattaraugus County Sheriff Deputies, New York State Parks Police and Salamanca Police.

The vehicle exited the interstate at Exit 20 and came to a stop. Barner was placed under arrest, the vehicle was turned over to the Olean Police Department and subsequently returned to the owner. Barner was transported to SP Jamestown, processed and issued appearance tickets. Barner is scheduled to appear in the town of Salamanca Court on a later date. Barner was then turned over to Olean Police for processing.

JAMESTOWN — A Jamestown man, who was in a vehicle pulled over on Kiantone Road, was taken into custody Friday by State Police in Jamestown for being a fugitive from justice.

Michael Lee, 32, a passenger was identified and placed under arrest after the driver was cited for not wearing her seatbelt.

Lee was wanted out of Warren County, Pa., for possession of marijuana and was transported to Jamestown for processing and sent to Chautauqua County Jail, pending extradition.

BROCTON — A pair pulled over by New York State Police in Fredonia are facing a number of drug charges.

Troopers charged Joshua Heimerl, 24, of Dunkirk for three counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, four counts of second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia, fourth-degree criminal possession of marijuana and two counts of possession of controlled substances by ultimate users original container. Kelsie Briggs, 28, of Brocton was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

A vehicle in which Heimerl and Briggs were passengers was pulled over on Thursday for a traffic violation and while speaking to the occupants, Troopers smelled marijuana emanating from inside the vehicle. A search of the vehicle and its occupants revealed that Heimerl was in possession of a container with methamphetamine, a dextroamphetamine pill, a hydrocodone pill, two scales containing drug residue, multiple glassine envelopes containing drug residue and a jar and several bags containing marijuana.

Briggs was found to be in possession of containers with cocaine residue. The driver was issued tickets and released. Heimerl and Briggs were placed under arrest, transported to Fredonia. Heimerl and Briggs were issued appearance tickets and released, to appear in the town of Portland Court on a later date.
