CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE

¯ HANOVER — Jordan A. Martinez, 24, of Buffalo, was charged with driving while intoxicated — Leandra’s Law, DWI common law, endangering the welfare of a child, unlawful possession of marijuana, speed not reasonable and prudent and moving from lane unsafely. Deputies were called at 1:49 a.m. Sunday to a vehicle off the road on Routes 5 and 20 in the town of Hanover. The driver was identified as Martinez, who was with a 4-year-old in the vehicle. An investigation found that Martinez was allegedly operating the vehicle while in an intoxicated condition. A small amount of marijuana was also located. Martinez was transported to Chautauqua County Jail, and the 4-year-old was turned over to family at the scene.

LAKEWOOD-BUSTI POLICE DEPARTMENT

¯ Maureen A. Card, 75, of Jamestown, was charged with failure to keep right, crossing over hazard marking, driving while intoxicated and refusing to submit to chemical breath test. Officers observed a vehicle at 10:10 p.m. Friday fail to keep right and cross over hazard markings. An investigation found that Card was driving in an intoxicated condition. Card is scheduled to appear in Busti Town Court later.

¯ Genevieve M. Johnson, 50, of Ashville, was charged with confinement of a companion animal in a motor vehicle during extreme temperatures. Officers were called to an animal complaint at 4:51 a.m. Saturday in the parking lot of Walmart on Fairmount Avenue. The dog was reportedly locked inside the vehicle for almost 90 minutes with the temperature outside at 15 degrees. Johnson was located an issued an appearance ticket to be in Busti Town Court later.

JAMESTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT

¯ Nancie Gerrish, 42, of Jamestown, was charged with overiding, torturing or injuring an animal. Officers responded to a Benedict Avenue residence at 7:58 a.m. Saturday for a report of a person beating a dog with a stick. A witness stated that Gerrish allegedly struck the dog with a piece of wood. Gerrish was taken into custody while the animal was taken to a local veterinary clinic for an evaluation.
