A man required medical treatment after accidentally shooting himself in the hand Tuesday afternoon.

Panama volunteer firefighters, along with Chautauqua County EMS and sheriff’s deputies, were called shortly after 2 p.m. to a residence on Blockville Watts Flats Road in the town of Harmony. County dispatch was notified that a man, whose age was not known, had a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his hand while target shooting on the property.

The shooting was accidental.

The man was transported by ambulance to the hospital.
