Sherman Man Charged Again With Unwelcome Appearance

SHERMAN — A 21-year-old resident is in trouble again with the law after again visiting a residence where he is not welcome.

Around 12:30 a.m. Saturday, Chautauqua County sheriff’s deputies responded to an address on Route 430 in the town for a reported unwanted person. Upon arrival it was determined that David B. Detweiler of Route 430 had left the residence prior to deputies arriving on scene.

After further investigation it was determined that Detwiler had made threats of harm to members of the household. These expressed threats violated a valid Refrain from Order of Protection in place between Detwiler and another resident.

Detwiler was located a short time later in the village of Sherman and charged with first-degree criminal contempt and second-degree aggravated harassment. He was transported to Chautauqua County Jail pending centralized arraignment.

On Nov. 6, Detweiler struck a victim in the face with a stick like object, causing physical injury to the victim in the same location. In that incident, he was charged with first-degree criminal contempt and third-degree assault.
