CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE

¯ SHERMAN — Janet M. Briggs, 45, of Potter Road, Sherman, was charged with third-degree assault and two counts of criminal obstruction of breathing at 10:02 p.m. Sunday. According to a police report, deputies responded to a report of a physical altercation and found that Briggs allegedly grabbed and applied pressure to the throat of two separate people. One person was injured and sought medical attention. Briggs was charged and taken to the Chautauqua County Jail, where she was held until she could be arraigned in the Centralized Arraignment Program.

¯ STOCKTON — Logan H. Couse, 23, of Sinclairville was charged with two counts of aggravated driving while ability impaired – drugs with a child in the vehicle, driving while ability impaired – combination of drugs and speeding at 9:26 p.m. Saturday on Route 380 in Stockton. Deputies pulled over a vehicle on Route 380 in Stockton for speeding. The driver was allegedly identified as Couse, who was allegedly impaired by a combination of drugs with two young children as passengers in the vehicle. Couse was charged and released with traffic tickets. Crouse will be in Stockton Town Court later.

¯ PORTLAND — John S. Spaulding, 39, of Ellicott Road, Portland, was charged with second-degree menacing and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon Saturday after an incident around 9:46 p.m. Wednesday after an altercation on Colt Road, Portland. Deputies responded to Colt Road for a reported past-tense fight and spoke with a person who said Spaulding allegedly placed the victim in fear of injury with a knife. Deputies found a metal knuckle knife at the scene of the incident. Spaulding was found on Saturday and charged. He was taken to the Chautauqua County Jail for centralized arraignment.

¯ KENNEDY — Terence E. Sweeney, 32, of Kennedy was charged with second-degree harassment at noon Saturday after allegedly threatening another person. Sweeney was charged and taken to the Chautauqua County Jail until he could be arraigned through the Centralized Arraignment Program.

¯ SILVER CREEK — Ryan A. Simmons, 32, of North Collins was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated with a .18 blood-alcohol content or more, common law DWI and inadequate headlights at 11:45 p.m. Friday after a traffic stop in Silver Creek. Simmons was released with appearance tickets and will be in Silver Creek Village Court later.

NEW YORK STATE POLICE

¯ STOW — Troopers from the State Police at Jamestown charged James Deflorville, 52, of Strongsville, Ohio, for with driving while intoxicated – Leandra’s Law on Saturday. Deflorville was reportedly pulled over on Interstate 86 in Stow for driving erratically and after reportedly failing several field sobriety tests, was charged and taken to the State Police at Jamestown barracks, where he allegedly provided a breath sample of .17%. Deflorville was released with traffic tickets and will be in in North Harmony Town Court later. The two minor children that were in Deflorville’s vehicle were turned over to an uninvolved third party.

¯ LEON –Troopers from the State Police at Jamestown charged Russell Dash, 59, of Leon, with second-degree menacing and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon. State Troopers and Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a residence in Leon for a report of a domestic disturbance. Investigation revealed that Dash allegedly threatened a person’s life and then pointed a loaded shotgun at the person. Dash was placed under arrest, taken to the State Police at Jamestown barracks and processed. Dash was arraigned and released on his own recognizance. Dash will be in Leon Town Court later.

¯ GERRY — Troopers from the Jamestown barracks charged Jason Brown, 44, of Falconer, with aggravated driving while intoxicated on Saturday.

Troopers responded to County Route 380 in Gerry for a report of an erratically driving vehicle. The suspect vehicle and its driver, Brown, were located at Kimball Road and Route 60. Brown was placed under arrest after failing several field sobriety tests and transported to Jamestown where he provided a breath sample of 0.22. Brown was then processed, issued tickets and released. Brown is scheduled to appear in the town of Gerry Court on a later date.

CATTARAUGUS COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE

¯ RANDOLPH –Ryan J. See of Randolph was arrested on a felony Violation of Probation warrant at 8:52 p.m. Oct. 16 by Chautauqua County Sheriff’s deputies. See was taken to the Cattaraugus County Jail and arraigned in Cattaraugus County Court.

¯ Norma J. Stanton, 46, of Jamestown was arrested on a bench warrant issued by Jamestown City Court for failing to comply with drug court without incident at the Cattaraugus County Social Services office in Olean. She was taken to the Jamestown Police Department to await arraignment.
