Lakewood Man Charged In June Shooting Incident

A Lakewood man who shot himself during a domestic dispute in June is facing a host of charges stemming from the incident.

Christopher A. Butts turned himself in after a warrant was issued by the Lakewood-Busti Police Department following an investigation.

Officers had responded June 15 to West Fairmount Avenue for a report of a man dragging a woman around a yard. As officers approached, Butts reportedly pulled out a pistol, fired a shot into the driveway then shot himself.

The Lakewood man was taken by helicopter to UPMC Hamot in Erie, Pa.

According to the Lakewood-Busti Police Department, Butts told the woman he was going to kill her as he was dragging her around the yard.

The Lakewood man was released with tickets to appear in court on charges of two counts of menacing a police officer, first-degree reckless endangerment, third-degree menacing, second-degree harassment and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a residence.
