CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE

¯ SILVER CREEK — Veronika Bayerl, 41, of Gowanda, was charged with third-degree grand larceny. An investigation found that over several months Bayerl allegedly took money from a Hanover business. She was issued a ticket to appear in Hanover Town Court later.

¯ CASSADAGA — Janet M. Burnett, 30, of Stockton, was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, DWI and inadequate headlights. Deputies observed a vehicle June 18 at 1:48 a.m. with a malfunctioning headlight on Maple Avenue in Cassadaga. Burnett was taken into custody following an investigation. She is scheduled to appear in Stockton Town Court later.

¯ POMFRET — Craig J. Whalen, 44, of Cattaraugus, was charged with driving while intoxicated, DWI per se, speed in zone and moving from lane unsafely. Deputies observed a vehicle speeding June 6 on Route 60 in the town of Pomfret. Whalen was taken into custody following an investigation. He is scheduled to appear in Pomfret Town Court later.

¯ PORTLAND — Erica F. Herman, 40, of Stockton, was charged with driving while ability impaired by the combined influence of drugs and alcohol, unlicensed operator and failure to keep right. Deputies responded Monday at 3:07 p.m. to Fish Road in the town of Portland for a reported crash. An investigation found that Herman was allegedly under the combined influence of drugs and alcohol. She was transported to a local hospital for treatement of minor injuries and is scheduled to appear in Portland Town Court later. Deputies were assisted by Portland and Brocton firefighters and Alstar EMS.

JAMESTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT

¯ Alex C. Peru, 28, of Jamestown, was issued an appearance ticket for violating the Jamestown City Code for explosives/fireworks. Officers were on patrol Tuesday at 10 p.m. in the area of East Fifth and Liberty streets when they observed a man throwing firecrackers in the road. The man was later identified as Peru. He is scheduled to appear in Jamestown City Court later.

¯ Brianna J. Elderkin, 24, of Jamestown, was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation. Officers responded Monday at 3:11 p.m. to the area of Fairview and Harding avenues for a reported crash. An investigation found that Elderkin was allegedly operating a motorcycle while her license was suspended. She was also confirmed to have an arrest warrant from the Chautauqau County Sheriff’s Office. Officers later found suboxone strips and a forged motorcycle registration. Elderkin was transported to Jamestown City Jail and held for arraignment.
