CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE

¯ Edward A. Wood, 50, of Westfield, was charged with second-degree menacing. Deputies and officers with the Westfield Police Department responded Wednesday at 6:58 p.m. to an address in Westfield for a reported altercation. An investigation found that Wood allegedly displayed a weapon to a person. Wood was released to appear in court at a later date.

¯ MAYVILLE — Ronald J. Hall, 33, no address listed, was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Deputies responded Saturday to a Water Street address in Mayville to check the well-being of a person. After checking the area, Hall was found outside of a residence and allegedly in possession of a controlled substance. Hall was issued a ticket to appear in Chautauqua Town Court later.

¯ BROCTON — Tyler A. Jaynes, 30, of Cherry Creek was taken into custody Saturday at 9:20 p.m. on Kinney Street in Brocton on an outstanding arrest warrant from Portland Town Court on charges of second-degree criminal contempt and fourth-degree criminal mischief. Jaynes was additionally charged with second-degree criminal contempt for allegedly being in violation of an order of protection. He was remanded to Chautauqua County Jail for centralized arraignment and later released.

¯ BUSTI — Michael D. Sparling, 27, of Busti was charged with second-degree harassment, resisting arrest and second-degree obstructing governmental administration. Deputies came across a disturbance on Busti-Sugar Grove Road on Sunday. Sparling allegedly pushed a deputy and struggled while being taken into custody. He was processed and later released with tickets to appear in Busti Town Court later.

JAMESTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT

¯ Thomas C. Lauer, 56, of Jamestown was charged with third-degree assault and aggravated criminal contempt. Officers were called Saturday at 3:09 p.m. to West Fourth Street for a reported domestic incident. It was learned that Lauer allegedly kicked and struck another person who had an order of protection to stay away from. Lauer was taken to Jamestown City Jail and held for arraignment.

¯ Louis A. Thomas, 22, of Buffalo was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Officers stopped a vehicle Thursday at 3:49 p.m. near Lafayette and West Fourth streets. An investigation found that Thomas was allegedly in possession of a quantity of cocaine. He was transported to Jamestown City Jail.

LAKEWOOD-BUSTI POLICE DEPARTMENT

¯ Raymond E. Hamilton, 34, of Jamestown was charged with criminal obstruction of breathing or blood flow and third-degree assault. Officers responded Saturday at 11:41 p.m. to a domestic incident in the town of Busti. An investigation found that Hamilton allegedly struck a woman in the face multiple times and choked her. Hamilton was transported to Chautauqua County Jail for arraignment.
