CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE

¯ DUNKIRK — Phillip Schrantz, 54, of Fredonia was charged with driving while intoxicated and driving with a BAC of 0.08% or more. Deputies responded March 19 to Vineyard Drive in the town of Dunkirk for a possible intoxicated driver. Deputies located the vehicle and made contact with Schrantz, who was later determined to be intoxicated. He was released with tickets to appear in Dunkirk Town Court later.

JAMESTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT

¯ Nelson Torres Jr., 40, of Jamestown was charged with third- and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Officers were on patrol in the area of Foote Avenue and Crane Street on Tuesday at 6:22 p.m. when Torres was stopped and later taken into custody for having active felony warrants for his arrest. A search found that Torres was also allegedly in possession of a quantity of methamphetamine. He was transported to Jamestown City Jail and held for arraignment.
