Student Charged After Incident At Southwestern

A 16-year-old female at Southwestern Central School was charged after reportedly striking another student in the head during an incident at the school earlier this week.

The teenager was issued an appearance ticket by the school resource officer on a charge of second-degree harassment.

According to the Ellicott Police Department, the 16-year-old walked up from behind and struck another student in the side of the head. The incident occurred Monday around noon inside the school’s cafeteria.

No serious injuries were reported.

The female is scheduled to appear in Ellicott Town Court on Jan. 21 to answer the charge.

The district did not return a call seeking comment.
