Police Release Name Of Woman Killed In Crash

The Lakewood-Busti Police Department has released the name of the woman killed in a crash involving a Chautauqua County snow plow on New Year’s Eve.

Police say 27-year-old Kristin L. Johnson of Sneads Ferry, N.C., and previously a resident of Warren, Pa., was a passenger in an SUV that was traveling north on Big Tree Road on Tuesday. The SUV reportedly lost control on the road and entered the southbound lane before being struck by the snow plow, investigator Jarrett Reed of the Lakewood-Busti Police Department said.

The driver of the SUV suffered non-life-threatening injuries; the driver of the snow plow was uninjured.

Volunteers with the Lakewood and Busti fire departments responded to the crash, as did members of the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction Team. Hydraulic rescue tools were used to remove the vehicle’s roof.

“Due to the severity of the accident, the passenger succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene,” Lakewood-Busti police said in a news release.

The department thanked the first responders who assisted at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
