CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE

¯ PORTLAND — David Zapata, 30, of Westfield was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, second-degree unlawful imprisonment and second-degree harassment. Deputies responded at 9:32 a.m. on Friday to a report of a physical altercation in the town of Portland. An investigation found that Zapata allegedly grabbed and dragged another person throughout the residence and did not allow them to leave. Zapata also reportedly removed a rifle and proceeded to a wooded area behind the property. K-9 Drake was deployed into the woods and was able to locate the rifle involved in the incident. Zapata was taken into custody without incident and transported to Chautauqua County Jail.

JAMESTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT

¯ Nelson Torres Jr., 40, of Jamestown was charged with second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia, third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and second-degree criminal contempt. Officers responded at 8:46 p.m. on Saturday to Franklin Street for a warrant check. Officers found Torres, who was wanted on an active warrant by the Jamestown Police Department, and was taken into custody. During a search, Torres was reportedly found with 6.1 grams of methamphetamine, several glassine bags and a digital scale. Torres also allegedly violated an order of protection to stay away from a female at the residence. He was held for arraignment in Jamestown City Court.
