Man Who Struck Emergency Vehicle At Scene Charged

HANOVER — A Hanover man who Chautauqua County sheriff’s deputies say struck an emergency vehicle Sunday is facing charges.

Deputies were called at noon to a business on Routes 5 and 20 in the town of Hanover to assist volunteer firefighters already on scene for an emergency call.

While on location, deputies say 72-year-old Joseph P. Pomichter reportedly disregarded traffic control personnel and struck a parked emergency vehicle with flashing lights.

No injuries were reported in the collision.

Pomichter was charged with failure to exercise due care approaching an emergency vehicle and failure to comply with flag-person. He is scheduled to answer the charges in Hanover Town Court at a later date.
