The cause of a fire that destroyed a city home last week remains under investigation.

The Jamestown Fire Department on Monday said it is still reviewing the blaze that broke out at 618 Pine St. around 6:20 a.m. on Wednesday. Crews arrived to find the structure nearly fully engulfed by flames.

A woman who lived in the home managed to escape the fire. She was assisted by the local chapter of the American Red Cross.

A neighbor up the street found the homeowner yelling for help and called 911.

“It’s terrible,” Evelyn Fluent, the neighbor, told The Post-Journal last week. “She’s lost everything. I feel really bad for her.”

Firefighters were on scene for several hours.

The property was deemed unsafe by city officials, and an emergency demolition was ordered. The property was completely razed by the early afternoon.
